About this programme
3/3. Richard Fortey discusses the last ice age, which began 2.8 million years ago when slight changes in ocean currents and the planet's orbit around the sun caused the world to cool. As a blanket of ice covered much of Earth's surface, many species died out - but the presenter explains how some managed to survive by adapting to life in extremely cold conditions. Last in the series.
