Suspicion is a theme that runs through Borgen as the spotlight inches away from political infighting and onto private lives. So, while Birgitte is grilled when a bugging device is found by an extreme left-wing party, she herself wonders whether stubbly hubby Phillip has been straying. Lately she’s been talking to him like an office underling... which hasn’t gone down well.
In one of those telling little scenes Borgen has made a speciality, Birgitte visits a school psychologist to discuss her son Magnus’s anxiety – it’s the most tongue-tied we’ve ever seen her. Her fairy-tale rise to power seems a long time ago now, and while the fallout is predictable, it’s still credibly conveyed.
About this programme
7/10. A far-left political party alleges it is being illegally monitored by the government's security services - but as Birgitte tries to get to the bottom of the case, she discovers Minister of Justice Troels Hoxenhaven has very different ideas on how to handle the accusations. The prime minister also finds herself struggling to keep her family happy, while Katrine faces a difficult decision.
