The Undateables

Series 1 - Episode 1

Radio Times

This could be a painfully unpleasant piece of exploitative voyeurism: cameras follow people with disabilities as they try to find love after signing up for a dating agency. But it’s actually quite touching and manages not to patronise Richard, Luke and Penny as they go on dates.

Richard, 37, has Asperger’s and wants romance, but only within a five-mile radius of his home. Luke has Tourette syndrome with exhausting tics and involuntary obscenities, and Penny is 3ft tall and in a wheelchair. Her ideal man is a tall police officer (she likes the uniform). They have first dates with varying degrees of success, but they are an engaging, optimistic and exacting trio.
