What do you do at the start of your 23rd series to keep the show fresh? The writers decided to throw a storyline over to the viewers, with the fate of a blossoming romance between Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel (first seen at the end of series 22) being voted on over the summer. The result is revealed at the end of this episode.
They’ve also drastically reworked the opening sequence, with Homer singing about sneaking into work at noon to the tune of the Police’s Walking on the Moon. Otherwise it’s
a flat episode, with Kiefer Sutherland rehashing his Jack Bauer parody as an ex-CIA agent working at the nuclear plant.
