There’s something attractive about family dynamics on sitcoms. Shows such as Outnumbered and The Royle Family invite viewers to feel a part of their close-knit worlds and also provide a dose of catharsis. After all, who doesn’t feel satisfaction when they discover that while they may not be the world’s best parent, at least Pete and Sue are doing a worse job?
In this breezy look at clans such as the Brockmans and the Boswells, Hugh Dennis examines the range of misbehaving kids and grown-ups with opinions from the likes of Miranda Hart and Ricky Tomlinson.
