Kirstie's Handmade Britain

Series 1 - Episode 1

Crikey, in television terms baking is the new sex because it’s everywhere, all breathless and full-on. Baking Made Easy, The Great British Bake Off and now the jolly Kirstie Allsopp pops on a pinny and gets floury hands for her second craft series (she dolled up her lovely Devon cottage in Kirstie’s Home-made Home).

Here Allsopp aims to master traditional crafts then enter the “hugely stressful” world of village and county baking competitions. There’s an awful lot of melodrama as Kirstie makes scones and jam, not to mention a beautiful fruitcake. All the other competitors are as cool as cucumber sandwiches.
