Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Series 10 - 4. The Last Street in Manhattan

Jane Rackham

A wealthy investment banker (is there any other kind?) is shot dead in the street after a desultory evening with a woman from a high-class dating agency. Meanwhile an Irish bar owner is beaten up in the northernmost neighbourhood of Manhattan.

There’s a connection but no clue yet what it is. Goren sleepwalks through most of this investigation only waking up to spout quotes from Proust or F Scott Fitzgerald. Then halfway through he visits his therapist to share a disturbing childhood memory, bitterly insisting, “Everybody lies all the time.” Not everybody, actually, Goren and, as a cop, isn’t it your job to work out who is and who isn’t.

About this programme

4/8. Wall Street CEO David Kellen is gunned down in the street shortly after his night out with a model is cut short when an old flame makes an appearance. Goren and Eames find themselves embroiled in the upmarket Manhattan matchmaking scene when they investigate, and the victim's deputy reveals that his boss may have made enemies by leaking information about a forthcoming merger between two major companies.
