Quality guest stars and a neat storyline, too – streets ahead of last week’s opener. The visiting actors include Tamzin Outhwaite as a reptilian defence lawyer (this show doesn’t know any other kind) who cooks up an immunity agreement for her ailing client. And if the client looks familiar, that’s because it’s Eddie the barman from Hustle over on BBC1, here playing a far less lovable rogue.
It all starts with an armed robbery on a fried chicken joint, giving us a rare bit of action and excitement as the hit goes badly wrong: a passerby is shot, the getaway car stalls, and the robbers have to hijack a minicab, which happens to be driven by an army veteran. He has asthma. He could have a fatal attack at any point. Where have they taken him?
Ronnie and Sam have a race against time to find out, before the slippery lawyer can wrangle her get-out-of-jail-free card and let a baddie off the hook.
About this programme
2/7. Ronnie and Sam are given 10 hours to find a hostage who was taken by two armed gunmen, following a bungled robbery in which an innocent `have-a-go-hero' was shot dead. When one of the accused is seized, the team is offered a deal - he will tell them the location of the captive in return for immunity from prosecution. Tamzin Outhwaite (Hotel Babylon) guest stars as uncompromising lawyer Miriam Pescatore.
