About this programme
Documentary following the progress of artistic director Ake Larson and architect Arne Bergh as they embark on a six-week project to build Icehotel, a sophisticated structure constructed in the Swedish village of Jukkasjarvi - more than 120 miles inside the Arctic Circle. The venue has been built from snow and ice every year since 1990, when an edifice housing an exhibition of ice sculptures became a temporary hostel for visiting art enthusiasts. However, an unseasonable heatwave in the middle of this year's build leaves the team struggling to complete the construction in time to accommodate paying guests.
