If you’re new to the high-energy, colour-saturated, jaw-dropping style of entertainment offered by Canadian circus troupe Cirque du Soleil, then this is a fascinating introduction. Creating their spectacular shows is a painful business, as is explored in this Emmy-winning documentary, which follows a new batch of acrobats as they prepare for the 2002 Varekai show. You might think twice about running away to join the circus.
