About this programme
Comedian Lee Evans stars in this adaptation of HG Wells' novel about an ordinary man who turns his back on a failing business and loveless marriage to pursue his dreams. Driven to despair by the aimlessness of life in the drapery trade, unfriendly neighbours and the incessant nagging of his wife, Alfred Polly decides to end it all.
