About this programme

Director Geoffrey Smith presents the moving story of philanthropic brain surgeon Henry Marsh, who makes regular trips to Ukraine to help fellow neurologists perform surgical procedures free of charge. Henry faces a serious challenge when he is forced to operate on a terminally ill patient with only a selection of rudimentary tools, including a household drill.
