About this programme
The first of a two-part drama by Alan Bleasdale telling the story of the passengers and crew of the RMS Laconia, which was torpedoed by a U-boat in 1942. Six hundred miles off the west coast of Africa, the mixture of civilians, Allied soldiers and Italian PoWs faced certain death - until the German commander responsible for the attack decided to move in to help rescue the survivors. Second World War drama, starring Brian Cox, Ken Duken, Franka Potente, Andrew Buchan and Lindsay Duncan.
