I Am Slave

About this programme

Wunmi Mosaku stars in the story of one woman's fight for freedom from modern-day slavery. Twelve-year-old Malia is snatched from her home in the Numa Mountains, Sudan, and spends the next six years of her life working for a Sudanese family. At the age of 18 she is sent to London, where she is stripped of her passport and subjected to brutality and inhumanity, until she calls on all her strength to plan an escape back to the father who never stopped searching for her. Drama inspired by real-life events, with Lubna Azabal and Igal Naor.
