The best moments in the Den are when it gets personal, as when Theo Paphitis tells one would-be partner bluntly, “I can’t invest in it, and the reason is you.” It would be hard to rebuild your self-belief after having been told that on national television, but the entrepreneurs are a resilient lot.
One of them in this episode is offering a neat idea for a mini safe that attaches to sun-loungers to keep valuables in on the beach, but offers too little equity for too much investment – a move the Dragons generally take as a gross personal insult. But his ability to endure their withering scorn with good grace is impressive.
About this programme
4/10. A former DJ dresses to impress, but it will take more than a good first impression to persuade Hilary Devey, Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis, Deborah Meaden and Duncan Bannatyne to part with their cash. A Londoner has an idea for keeping holiday-makers' valuables safe - and wants to keep almost all his company to himself - a Monterrey-born woman is joined by a full mariachi band to pitch her Mexican food range, and an ex-hairdresser comes to the Den with a product that he thinks could shake up the advertising world. Presented by Evan Davis.
