About this programme
Jolyon Jenkins talks to survivors of the 1961 evacuation of Tristan da Cunha, the world's remotest inhabited island. A volcanic eruption forced the 264 inhabitants to leave and be brought to Britain, where they encountered intense media and medical scrutiny and were prevented by the government from returning home.
