About this programme
15/16. Mick Aston, Phil Harding and Francis Pryor pay a visit to the unearthing of an important Bronze Age settlement on the banks of the River Witham, just outside Lincoln. With plans under way to strengthen flood defences, the site itself will soon be buried once again, leaving archaeologists with only six weeks to salvage as much as possible. The programme examines some of the thousands of finds and reveals evidence of strange burial practices, while ancient-wood specialist Maisie Taylor explains the art of crafting tools during the period.
