Are you male? Do you feel the need constantly to remind people of that? Welcome to US legal lark Franklin & Bash, a show that might as well grow a ponytail and drive a crimson Ferrari.
Jared Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Peter Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) are maverick attorneys. They break the rules, while electric guitars grunt in the background and nearby blondes compulsively unbutton their blouses. Yet the pair are also boyish and bumbling, with their Wii, their karaoke and their nerdy support crew.
Gosselaar was in Saved by the Bell in the 90s (though he no longer has hair like melted Milkybars) and Meyer looks about 4ft 6in, so they’re not too far from the boys this must be aimed at. Anyone who isn’t having a mid-life crisis may find it lame, but as cartoonish wish fulfilment, it’s harmless.
