There are always new layers of traveller life for this show to unpeel. This week’s most startling scenes come from Doncaster, where Romanies hold high-speed horse-and-trap races on country roads.

It’s illegal, obviously, to career along using both lanes of a public highway, with beer-toting spectators hanging out of cars in front of and behind you, but boy it looks like fun, in a lethal sort of way.

Elsewhere, Chloe is having a gaudy first communion in Manchester, while Danielle (15) in Northampton prepares for her hen night. And underneath the bling, mega-dresses, oompah music and sense of victimhood, there are poignant stories.

About this programme

2/5. Pat Skye Lee is subject to criticism for choosing to marry someone from outside the Romany community, but his 17-year-old bride Sam Norton is determined to prove her credentials by acquiring a 14st wedding dress that lights up in the dark. Meanwhile, a six-year-old girl receives a spray tan in preparation for her first Communion, which her family is celebrating early before being evicted from a traveller site.
