About this programme
5/17. Tony Robinson and the team investigate a Victorian settlement lived in by railway navvies in Rise Hill, North Yorkshire. The construction of the Settle to Carlisle railway took five years and involved digging a tunnel three-quarters of a mile long through solid rock. The archaeologists find the houses and workshops that were built on the isolated hill and uncover stories of murder, suicide and heroic endurance.
