When a ten-year-old rape victim is taken away from his mother by seemingly closed-minded Orthodox Jews, it looks as though this is going to be an episode about a miscreant being protected by organised religion. Something which we’ve seen done about a thousand times in crime dramas – and often in instalments of Law & Order.
But then the story hares off in a completely different direction and becomes a well-argued debate about the sexualisation of popular culture and the exposure that youngsters have to adult viewing. Watch out for a guest spot from Rhea Perlman (Carla from Cheers) who plays a firecracker lawyer with the “raunchification” of primetime TV in her sights.
