Secrets of World War Two

Series 1 - 25. Home Run from Colditz

About this programme

25/26. Veterans recall conditions at Colditz Castle, the Germans' high-security PoW camp, reserved for the most resourceful Allied prisoners of the Second World War, which posed special problems for the escape committees dedicated to getting personnel back to their home countries. Among those successfully evading the intelligence agents, floodlights, 18 watchtowers and 300 guards was future Conservative politician Airey Neave, who decades later would die in an IRA bomb blast at the Houses of Parliament.
