We gave Mo Farah such a build-up in the run-up to Glasgow 2014 that I can’t help feeling that to do it again now would be tempting fate. So all I will say this time round is that the men’s 5,000m final takes place on the afternoon of the last day of the championships, a fitting climax to six days of athletics competition – whether reigning champ Farah is racing or not.

The final day of competition also sees the men’s 4x100m relay final: Glasgow silver medallist Adam Gemili is part of the GB team, as is Dwain Chambers, who pulled out of the Commonwealth Games in order to focus on this competition.

About this programme

Gabby Logan presents coverage of the final session of the championship on day six, held at the Letzigrund in Zurich, Switzerland, where medals will be decided in 11 events. Providing he is fully recovered from the illness that kept him out of the Commonwealth Games, Mo Farah will be aiming to complete a hat-trick of European 5,000m titles at 3.30. The other finals are the women's shot put from 2.00, high jump from 2.16, 4x400m relay at 2.22, 3,000m steeplechase at 3.08 and 4x100m relay at 4.22, and the men's 1,500m at 2.05, 4x400m relay at 2.42, long jump from 2.56, javelin from 3.11 and 4x100m relay from 4.05. Commentary by Steve Cram, Andrew Cotter, Brendan Foster and Jonathan Edwards, and analysis from Colin Jackson, Denise Lewis and Paula Radcliffe, with reports by Phil Jones.
