Golf: The Open Championship

2014 Day Four

2014 Day Four

About this programme

Hazel Irvine introduces further live coverage of the fourth and final day at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, where the 143rd staging of the Major concludes. There were high hopes of Lee Westwood succeeding Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke to become the second successive British winner of the title going into the final day at Muirfield 12 months ago. However, the Englishman relinquished his overnight lead following a disappointing four-over-par round of 75 and had to settle for a share of third place. In contrast, America's Phil Mickelson produced one of the most memorable rounds of his illustrious career, with his 66 helping him to overturn a five-stroke deficit at the start of the day and add a maiden Open Championship to the four Majors he had previously won. With commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown, Andrew Cotter, Mark James, Phil Parkin, Maureen Madill, Scott Drummond and Frank Nobilo, and reports by Dan Walker. Subsequent programmes are subject to change.
