About this programme

5/16. A look back at the 1966 World Cup, which remains the only time England won the tournament, and a seminal moment in British football history. Alf Ramsey's men benefited from home advantage, and played all six of their fixtures at Wembley Stadium, while the South Americans largely struggled, with only Argentina and Uruguay reaching the quarter-finals, and Brazil being dethroned during the group stage when they succumbed to Portugal and Hungary in two brutal matches.
