About this programme

3/16. A look back at the 1958 staging of the tournament, which took place in Sweden and saw Brazil claim their first triumph as Pele emerged onto the international scene. Sixteen nations from three confederations took part in the competition, with England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales all involved, but it was the brilliance of the Brazilians that caught the imagination, as their 17-year-old soon-to-be superstar inspired his team to victory, while Just Fontaine set a still-unsurpassed record by scoring 13 goals in the tournament.
