Don’t be fooled by the title. There’s nothing of Venice in this first part of a new jaunt for Griff Rhys Jones, Dara O Briain and Rory McGrath. They wanted to call it Three Men in the Balkans, which would have made sense: they’re pottering, as only they know how, up the scenic coastline of Montenegro and Croatia.

It’s the usual deal – gentle capers strung together in an amiable travelogue (though it was more fun when these guys had an edge to their banter). Still, the locations look magical and there are a few laughs along the way – a game of comedy cricket, a smoked pig’s head breakfast and Rory and Griff’s impression of the Strictly judges.

1/2. Rory McGrath, Dara O Briain and Griff Rhys Jones embark on their sixth journey together, heading for Venice to take part in a gondola race. Beginning in Montenegro, the trio work on board former Yugoslavia president Marshal Tito's boat and test their skills at Moreska sword-dancing, before trying to charm their way onto a yacht to make their way along the Croatian coastline.
