Get ready for a new soap whodunnit – and if you don’t want to discover the identity of the victim, then look away now. For the more curious among you, it’s Lucy Beale who’s set to be bumped off, her lifeless body being spied on Walford Common (who knew that existed, for starters?).

So, does Hetti Bywater, who plays Lucy, know who’s responsible? “No! I thought I was 100 per cent sure and that I’d sussed it out in my head, but after talking to everyone on the cast I’m not sure any more,” she says. “They’re all having little bets.” We’re told that the mystery will last from now up until the soap’s 30th anniversary in February 2015, so there’s plenty of time to place your own wagers.

About this programme

Ian is worried when he realises Lucy didn't come home last night, only to later find her and Lee, who have spent the night together at the restaurant. During a heart-to-heart with his daughter, he insists she is the child he is most proud of - but when they discover Peter has overheard, it sets in motion a chain of events that leads to a tragic outcome. Meanwhile, Whitney is heartbroken after Lauren fills her in on recent events and Denise can't hide her true feelings any longer and comes to a big decision.
