Episode 4797

Radio Times
Review by:
David Brown

How does David Wicks manage to be so disreputable and yet so lovable? Since he returned, he’s blackmailed Janine and played a hand in splitting Carol from Masood. But he’s also been a rock for both his first love and daughter Bianca. It helps that Michael French has a knack for stealing all his scenes, partly – it has to be said – by being a whizz with the props: this is a man who can butter toast, drink tea, text on his phone, speak his lines and wink at the same time. Genius.

Here, we see a speechless Carol having to react to David’s proposal over the karaoke mic in the Vic. But will she say yes?

About this programme

A drunken Masood is mugged and ends up being looked after by Tamwar - but when Aleks arrives to reveal the news about the market office burglary, things soon spiral out of control. Shirley is saddened to hear about Carol's illness, having suffered a cancer scare herself in the past, leading her to make an important phone call. Dexter tries his luck with Nancy, Terry sticks up for Bianca when Nikki oversteps the mark, and Linda is buoyed when she hears about Johnny and Whitney's apparent pregnancy scare.
