Coronation Street

Episode 8333

For a while, it looked as though the mill conversion plotline would be a contender for dullest story of 2014, but at last we get an injection of tension. The disreputable Phelan is currently lying unconscious on the ground, with Gary Windass standing over his body, a piece of copper piping in his hand. However, after leaving the scene and confessing to Owen what he’s done, the pair return – only to find that Phelan’s body has disappeared.

So is Gary guilty of murder? Debbie Rush, who plays Gary’s mum Anna, promises that there’ll certainly be more drama to come: “Anna would go to the ends of the earth to protect her family and that's what we'll see,” she tells RT.

About this programme

Owen and Gary desperately try to make contact with Phelan, but there's no reply from his phone and his house is sitting in darkness. Beth regales Chesney and Kirk with the tale of how she fought off the bag-snatcher single-handed, while Eileen is put out to find Liz and Tony enjoying a drink together. Andrea is impressed when Kal tells Steve and Lloyd he used to buy his wife a present every week.
