Episode 4791

Review by:
Jane Rackham

EastEnders has stormed into 2014 with all guns blazing: first Johnny Carter’s touching “coming out” scene (heralded as a return to form for the soap) and then the surprise appearance of Jane Beale, which caught everyone on the hop.

They’re not letting up. The fallout from Lauren and Jake’s affair continues with a drunken, slightly manic Jake driving at high speed through the square while arguing with Lauren. Suddenly, he loses control of the car and hits the buggy that Kat is pushing. Is history repeating itself for Jake? Can the scriptwriters really be so cruel to Kat?

Meanwhile, the owner of that positive pregnancy test makes a decision.

About this programme

A drunken Jake speeds off in his car with Lauren beside him, and as the pair bicker he loses control, careering into a baby buggy being pushed by Kat. Is this a case of history repeating itself? Nancy suspects Mick is up to something when she catches him being over-friendly with Wayne, and warns her parents they will never be able to split them up. However, Linda is a determined woman, as her daughter soon finds out. Shirley has plans to make lots of pies - until Jonny warns her that Kat's meat could actually be dog meat.
