When a Liverpudlian woman gave birth to six girls in November 1983, the media went baby crazy. Parents Janet and Graham Walton let TV chart a good chunk of their girls’ upbringing.
This new film – the ninth so far – catches up with the sextet on the cusp of their 28th birthday. This consensual intrusion is one of the few things they disagree on, which makes watching an hour-long documentary about their lives a little dull. To pep it up, there’s archive footage of them as babies, toddlers and teens. Nearly three decades on, these scenes still provoke a unique emotional reaction: “How sweet!” you’ll coo. “But what hell.”
About this programme
A film profiling the world's first surviving all-female sextuplets, who were born in 1983 to parents Janet and Graham Walton, exploring the close bond that exists between them. The girls, whose lives were documented on film until they reached the age of 18, are seen watching old footage of themselves and discussing the memories it evokes.
