A woman’s body is found in the woods. She’s naked and has been strangled with a striped tie. “Of course!” says Barnaby, having a bit of a light bulb moment, “This is Strangler’s Wood!” Nine years earlier three young women were despatched in exactly the same way in this spot but the murderer was never caught. This time the corpse belongs to Carla Constanza, face of Brazil’s leading cigarettes, a brand in which a local company has a stake. So is the killer back or is it a copycat killing? This 1999 episode boasts a cracking cast that includes Frank Windsor, Anne Stallybrass, Trudie Styler and Phyllis Logan.
