About this programme
Clare Balding continues following the tracks of touring guide author Harold Brierliffe, heading west into the Welsh Borders. She begins in Aston-on-Clun, where Briercliffe noted the local tradition of the Bride's Tree, before visiting Cwm House, where writer Bruce Chatwin found the inspiration for his novel On the Black Hill. Finally, she heads to Newtown to meet former professional cyclist Barry Hoban - one of Britain's most successful Tour de France competitors.
