Substitute finned predators for fire-breathers and you have this American budding-business-fest. It’s Dragons’ Den but with bigger money and slicker soundbites.
The entrepreneurial minnows meekly approach what looks like an overstaffed Newsnight desk, carrying products including an elephant that dispenses medicine to children and a sweet-potato pie. One joker even tries to sell a surgically implanted cellphone, which you charge by sticking a needle in your ear. There’s heartbreak and drama, with one Shark showing too many teeth when he bizarrely calls two hopefuls “pigs”. Good manners cost nothing, you know.
