It’s just what you want from SVU: a bunch of great plot twists and cute cameos. The premise is strong to start with: a child is taken from her bed, the parents left distraught. Then the plot takes a series of unlikely but just believable left turns.
At one point it becomes an almost stagey psychodrama as an old jewel thief with dementia looks to be the only one who might know who snatched her. He’s played by Dabney Coleman (the Commodore in Boardwalk Empire). And there are other familiar faces playing old safe-crackers, including Burt Young (Paulie from the Rocky films) and Wallace Shawn, who’s barely changed since The Princess Bride.
