For Naoko Mori, who plays Tosh in
Torchwood, acting with John
Barrowman is a reminder of her professional
debut. The Japanese-born actress got her
big break playing the lead in Miss Saigon
opposite Barrowman. Later, she got roles in
Absolutely Fabulous and Doctor Who.
"I grew
up in the States, so I didn't know too much
about Doctor Who," she says. "When I got the
script, I phoned my agent and said, 'What's
a Tardis? I've looked it up in the dictionary
and I can't find it.' He was laughing so hard
he actually put the phone down on me."
