Destroying the set - Radio Times, 3 January 2007 |
 |
|
|
As the first series of Torchwood reaches its finale, the Hub - and
all of Cardiff - rumbles as if it's about to be swallowed by an earthquake. "We've
blown out a few windows but the
whole trick of that kind of effect is
not to damage the set!" says
producer Richard Stokes.
So there's
a collapsing girder, cables that fall
and spark, and "drop boxes" out of
shot, filled with polystyrene debris
and dust. "All need to be cued at the
same time. After three hours' setting
up, the whole thing takes about five
seconds to collapse around you."
