Ray Stevenson's career change - Radio Times, 14 December 2005 |

Ray Stevenson, who stars as the
ferocious soldier Titus Pullo in Rome, could have been a rival to
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen if he'd stuck to his
original career. The 41-year-old actor was an
interior designer in his 20s.
He'd loved the
movies as a boy but, he says, "To me, the
actors were from somewhere else. It just
didn't seem possible for me to become one."
Yet he held on to his secret ambition. "I got
drunk with an Australian actor and it all came
out. He said, 'You've got to find out if you can do
it.' So I got into drama school at the age of 27!"
