Ray Stevenson, who stars as the ferocious soldier Titus Pullo in Rome, could have been a rival to Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen if he'd stuck to his original career. The 41-year-old actor was an interior designer in his 20s.

"I got drunk with an Australian actor and it all came out. He said, 'You've got to find out if you can do it.' So I got into drama school at the age of 27!"
