Having confronted a series of terrifying prehistoric monsters, [in episode four] the team in Primeval comes across a creature more intriguing than intimidating: the dodo, the flightless bird last seen on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius in 1662.
"At last, we've got some hard pictorial evidence of the animal we're designing," says series co-creator Tim Haines. Unfortunately, he still had to take an educated guess about its colour, how it moved and what it sounded like. "Let's just say that our dodo is a very close relative to the one that existed 400 years ago."
