Was Life on Mars robbed at the Baftas?

Life on Mars's John Simm and Philip Glenister
Life on Mars was the people's choice at Sunday's Baftas, winning the Pioneer Audience Award. But it failed to scoop either best drama series or the best actor award for John Simm.

So was it a travesty of justice? Here's what some RadioTimes.com users thought.

Your comments

From Malcolm Beckett-Murray:

Life on Mars should get an Oscar never mind a Bafta!!!!!!!!

From Mr Kerr:

"I don't watch as much tv as most but I must admit Life on Mars made me change my diary and have a quiet night in every week. Very gripping programming, and the best cast I have seen on any terrestrial tv channel."

From Ian Spencer:

"Life on Mars was the best show to have come from the BBC in a long time. BAFTA really should have acknowledged the makers and cast/crew of the show as they managed to produce a truly unique and enthralling series with the greatest one liners! It had charm and wit and was acted with brilliance. The show should have recieved its nominated awards, as should John Simm who is a fantastic actor and demonstrated his skills fantastically as Sam Tyler!!"

From Janette:

Life on Mars was an inspired concept, really well acted, the plot kept you hooked, the music was marvellous and the ending was unmissable. It was praised by TV critics and avidly watched by the public. This obviously meant very little to the voting Academy. Life on Mars was robbed.

It is a travesty Life on Mars should be so ignored. I was not in the least surprised that John Simm looked so angry on Sunday - no, he was actually seething wasn't he? - when the awards were announced. To get the audience award for best show was a slap in the face to the Life on Mars team. Disgraceful.

From Taleya:

Utterly disgraceful. Considering this series was one of the few genuinely original ideas of late, its treatment was an utter disgrace. The acting far exceeded many other shows, the plot lines were genuinely thought-provoking, and the entire original concept was brilliant. And yet, this is not considered of note.
