The nightmare comes to an end for John Simm this week in Life on Mars, but the good news is that his character, Sam Tyler, will be back for a second series. The future is not so assured for the real star of the show, however… the Mark III Ford Cortina driven by DCI Gene Hunt.
"We had a mechanic on set for every episode to look after the car," says executive producer Jane Featherstone, "but it was driven hard and took a battering. There aren't too many mint-condition Cortinas around, so I hope it makes it to the new series."
