People power does work. Earlier this year, CBS decided to cancel cult, post-apocalyptic drama Jericho. Incensed fans voiced their displeasure by bombarding the channel's headquarters with… 18,000kg of peanuts!
It's actually a surreal reference to a line of dialogue in the show. When Jake (Skeet Ulrich) is asked to surrender, he replies, "Nuts! You can go straight to hell!" Combined with a vociferous email and letter campaign, the peanuts persuaded executives to perform a double-quick U-turn and recommission seven more episodes.
