David Walliams guest-stars - Radio Times, February 2007 |
 |
|
|
Kim Newson ponders some of the comedy star's recent career choices.
"Meet David Walliams's latest eccentric,
Adrian Tintagel. No, it's not a lost
character from Little Britain's gallery
of grotesques, but a slightly sinister cult
leader Walliams plays in Hotel Babylon.
He can't need the
money, so why, we wonder, has he
regularly taken on these odd guest
roles since LB made him a huge star:
EastEnders in 2003, Hustle and Miss
Marple in 2004, Waking the Dead in
2005? Maybe the former National
Youth Theatre member is just keeping
his thespian skills toned up in
preparation for an acting "big swim".
We won't have to wait long for that:
he's now filming Stephen Poliakoff's
new drama Capturing Mary."
