In the first series finale of Green Wing, lascivious Dr Guy Secretan inadvertently
slept with his mother. Stephen Mangan, who plays Secretan, also portrayed a bisexual
wife-swapper in I'm Alan Partridge. "I want play someone my aunts in Ireland can
watch," he laughs. "They've had the rosary beads out and have been praying for my soul."
But he loves the madness of the Green Wing set (two working hospitals). "A make-up
artist will be putting powder on my face and patients will walk past and you can see
them thinking, 'No wonder the NHS is going down the tubes.'"
