Firefly's Joss Whedon talks Buffy sequel - 31 July 2007

You thought it would never happen - and it still might not. But Joss Whedon this week told the crowds at America's famous Comic-Con that his Buffy sequel is close. "Everyone seems to be on the same page," he said. "It can happen, should happen, will happen soon. There's a very real possibility that in the next year we'll finally be able to film it."

It's to be called Ripper and is intended to be a spin-off starring Anthony Stewart Head as Giles the Watcher. Whedon said he'd had dinner "the other night" with Head to discuss it and the star told him "I'm for it".

But Ripper is only one of many projects: "I'm getting sick and tired of not entertaining you guys enough," said Whedon. So he's planning many smaller projects. "There are so many creepy things swimming around in my head and I really need to get them out."

They include a horror film, several comics and a ballet. Also: "Well, I wrote Wonder Woman… and that's enough of that."
