When British actor Jamie Bamber signed up to the American show Battlestar Galactica, he had no idea it would blast sci-fi into the mainstream, or give it a political dimension. Now the Emmy-winning series offers a taster for [its] final run with a two-hour special, Razor, which takes Lee "Apollo" Adama back to his first command.

"Post-Star Wars, sci-fi got caught up in juvenile stuff with weird aliens and planets," Bamber tells RT. "Battlestar tries to be topical and political. We were able to get closer to issues like the mistreatment of prisoners in Iraq than series set in the White House. Because we are in space, nobody censors us."
