Presenter Daisy Goodwin stops traffic - literally
She's perhaps best known for presenting poetry series, but Daisy Goodwin is a writer and producer whose hits range from Grand Designs and Property Ladder to Bus Pass Workaholics. Next year Channel 4 was to air a one-off special called The Woman Who Stops Traffic but filming has gone so well that it's now to become a series.

The first show follows her efforts to cut traffic in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. "In Marlow, 80 per cent of journeys are less than two miles," said Goodwin. "We had a 'No Car Day' and reduced traffic by 40 per cent. All these kids walked to school for the first time. It is possible. It shows what can be achieved.

"I would like to get a big campaign about it. I thought a national 'No Car Day' would be a good thing."

The new second and third episodes will be filmed elsewhere in the UK. No transmission date has been confirmed yet.
