South Park creators strike record web deal
The creators of hit animation South Park have struck a record web deal
It's the tenth anniversary of animated hit South Park and its creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, have signed a new deal that not only secures a further three series but could change what writers and producers earn from the internet.

It's estimated that the show has already earned its network hundreds of millions of dollars via web usage and the extensive merchandising of the series. The duo have already negotiated a share of that but now will always get half the advertising revenue from any use of South Park that is not on television. The deal is estimated to be worth $75m (£37m) to them.

"Three more years of South Park will give us the opportunity to offend that many more people," said Stone. "And since Trey and I are in charge of the digital side of South Park, we can offend people on their cell phones, game consoles and computers, too."
