New season TV documentary

Philippe Cousteau Jr and Dr Lucy Blue in Oceans
Oceans (BBC2)

Expect shipwrecks, strange creatures and stunning underwater scenery in this brand new landmark natural history series, as the team attempts to understand Earth's biggest, and least understood, asset. Presented by explorer Paul Rose, environmentalist Philippe Cousteau Jr, maritime archaeologist Dr Lucy Blue and marine biologist Tooni Mahto.

"Diving under the Arctic pack ice, you feel as if you're flying through a different planet," says Cousteau, grandson of legendary underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau. "You have the sensation of being in a science-fiction film."
James May in James May's Big Ideas
James May's Big Ideas - starts Sunday 28 September, 9:00pm, BBC2

Stepping out of the Top Gear spotlight, the ever-affable May indulges his passion for all things scientific and technical with this boffin-friendly trip around the globe. Along the way, he'll be searching for answers to questions that have always bothered him, such as, is it possible to take an elevator to the stars? And can scientists make a James May clone so he doesn't have to work so hard?

"These are the questions the world needs answers for," says May. "C'mon... who wouldn't want a flying car?"
Stephen Fry in America
Stephen Fry - in America - starts Sunday 12 October, 9:00pm, BBC1

Here's something you don't see every day - Stephen Fry driving across America in his London chariot. En route, he encounters Zulus in New Orleans, Sioux Nation drummers in South Dakota, and much more besides.

"I could have been American; after all, I was nearly born there," says Fry. "So I wanted to find out what is it that makes the United States of America so unique, so diverse, so very American."
